NSF SBIR Phase II Award: Feasible, Inc.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award for the electrochemical acoustic tools for the analysis of batteries is awarded to Feasible, Inc. The start date for the award amount is Sept. 1, 2018 with an estimated end date of Aug. 31, 2020.

NSF is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950. It’s mission is “to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense..." As part of the effort to support research and people to create knowledge, the NSF offers monetary awards and is the funding source for 24% of all federally supported basic research conducted by America's colleges and universities. This NSF SBIR award addresses the need for a physical mode of inspection in battery production environments that is capable of screening every cell with high fidelity. NSF noted that current inspection for production-level environments for batteries are limited to electrical measurements and X-rays. Current methods are not practically able to detect the distribution of electrolyte within batteries and negatively impacts long term performance of systems relying on battery integrations.
