EMERYVILLE, Calif.— (Dec. 17, 2018) — The Shell GameChanger™ Accelerator Powered by NREL (GCxN) today announced that Feasible, Inc. has been selected as one of four companies to participate in the program’s inaugural cohort following an extensive selection process. Feasible, Inc., based in Emeryville, was selected for its innovations in developing technologies designed to enable the energy grid of the future through long-term energy storage and controls.

Feasible, Inc. is developing a technology platform that uses sound waves and data analytics to deliver insights about batteries across the value chain. At scale, Feasible’s technology will enable widespread adoption of clean energy sources by improving the performance and safety of battery packs and decreasing their lifetime cost. As a benefit of participation in the invitation-only program, Feasible, Inc. will receive up to $250,000 in non-dilutive funding to test, validate and advance its technologies with a network of experts from the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Shell’s GameChanger program. The assistance is designed to help companies de-risk technology development while accelerating their path to market.

“We are grateful and excited for the opportunity to work with both NREL and Shell through the GCxN program,” said Andrew Hsieh, co-founder and CEO of Feasible, Inc. “This will allow us to leverage the expertise and resources of two incredible organizations as we take the next step in demonstrating our prototypes at a larger scale.”

Launched in September 2018, GCxN is a multimillion dollar, multiyear program that facilitates the commercialization and adoption of clean energy technologies. Unlike most accelerators, companies cannot simply apply to GCxN. Instead, companies must be recommended by a member of the Channel Partners network (cleantech incubators, accelerators and universities), with finalists selected after rigorous review by technology experts at NREL and Shell. Feasible, Inc. was successfully nominated by Cyclotron Road.

“We are very excited to begin work with this first round of GCxN companies,” said GCxN Program Co-Directors Haibin Xu (Shell) and Adam Duran (NREL). “It is our goal to fill this program with game-changing ideas, and our first cohort of startup companies meets that goal and shows real promise to enable the grid of the future through their unique technologies.”

About GCxN

The Shell GameChanger™ Accelerator powered by NREL (GCxN) is a new multimillion dollar, multiyear program developed in collaboration between Shell GameChanger and the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to discover and advance emerging clean technologies with the potential to dramatically alter the future global energy landscape. GCxN identifies promising startup companies through an ecosystem of more than 40 cleantech business incubators, accelerators and universities, providing access to up to $250,000 in non-dilutive funding in the form of technical experts to develop and demonstrate new energy technologies. GCxN is made possible by funding through Shell GameChanger. GCxN is administered by NREL, located in Golden, Colo.

About Cyclotron Road

Cyclotron Road (www.cyclotronroad.org) is a fellowship program based in Berkeley, Calif. As Cyclotron Road fellows, leading technology innovators are embedded at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory for two years while they advance a project with the potential for global impact. Since 2015, Cyclotron Road has awarded more than $15 million directly to 41 fellows, who have gone on to generate more than $75 million in early-stage funding to support their projects.
